Employment Visa

Your employer in Ireland must apply to the Department of Enterprise, Trade & Employment for a work permit on your behalf.

A non-EEA* national requires a Work Permit to work in Ireland.

*The European Economic Area (EEA) comprises the European Union, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway

If you are visa-required national and are travelling to Ireland to take up employment you should present the following with your visa application:

  • Passport (please include a photocopy of the passport bio page, all visas and all stamps)

  • Two (2) copies of the signed summary of your online application form. Please refer to our Application Forms section for details.

  • Two (2) passport sized colour photos taken in the past six months that meets our specifications

  • Photocopy of Hong Kong Identity card

  • Full contact details (address and daytime number)

  • Valid work permit

  • Letter from the employer in Ireland stating:

    • contact details for the place of employment in Ireland

    • name of the applicant and nature of the employment

    • details of the salary and any benefits in kind

  • Details of the applicants previous training and work experience

  • If currently / previously employed in Hong Kong, a letter from current / previous employer stating:

    • contact details for the place of employment in Hong Kong

    • name of the applicant and nature of the employment

    • details of the salary and any benefits in kind

  • Copies of all certificates held relevant to the employment position in Ireland

  • Full details of the applicants family (parents, spouse, children and siblings)

  • If you are travelling to Ireland to work as a performing artist you must provide your schedule of performances

Additional documents or information may be required.

 

 

 

Note to Applicants
Please prepare TWO [non double-sided] photocopies of all required documents when submitting your application. If you do not supply a photocopy the original document will not be returned to you.

We regret that we do not provide photocopying services at the Consulate.

 

Processing Time


We aim to make a decision on your application as soon as possible however, please allow 10 working days for your application to be processed.
